Hammersmith Bridge is Falling Down by Brad Sutherland

Synopsis: A new play set during the crisis surrounding the long-delayed repair of Hammersmith Bridge. Written by award winning playwright Brad Sutherland.

For over thirty years, Edward Stiles MP and his adviser, Violet, have been loyal to the Labour Party — and to each other. Yet eighteen months after the party takes power, Hammersmith Bridge still hasn’t been repaired, despite Edward’s election promises. But then a new adviser enters their lives: a young woman with growing influence over Edward, who persuades him to tell the truth; to tell the truth about everything. Soon after, Edward and Violet are forced to confront the past and face an uncertain future.

Blending political satire, emotional drama and dark comedy, Hammersmith Bridge is Falling Down explores power, ageing, idealism and a nation losing faith in both its leaders and the system itself.
